We harvested 300+ acres of corn and forage sorghum as silage for finishing cattle feed and winter cow feed. This year's drought pushed us to get done in two weeks instead of our planned 4 weeks because the crops were getting too dry.

It’s always long days from sunrise at 7am until it’s too dark to go anymore after 8pm.

It takes a team of around 7 people, 2 packing the silage to push out all the air, 4 in trucks bringing it from field to the storage pit and 1 on the Chopper.

We had a great crew again this year and got it done with minimal issues.  Always a difficult time as all of our equipment is over 20 years old and we keep repairing it to get the harvest done. We also planted ryegrass in these fields immediately after harvest, trying to keep something green growing year-round!
