Farm Tidbits: Joe Transitions to a Nursing Home

Unfortunately, we recently had to take my father, Joe Fischer, to a nursing home.

Many of you met him over the years at events or when you came for a tour. He’s been living with us the past 5 years. Starting 9/1 he developed severe trigeminal neuralgia, which is severe nerve pain in the face. We adjusted his medications and got him a radiation cyber knife treatment which has almost eliminated the pain. But all the medications got to where it now takes 2 people to transfer from chair to bed, etc.

So, a few weeks ago, we made the decision to put him in a nursing home. He’s ok with it and is glad he finally is using his long paid for insurance. He is also a social person so he will get many more visitors.

We will still bring him up to the farm as often as we can to drive around and so he can tell me all the things I need to fix 😊
