Ukraine Agricultural Impact

We, as so many of you, are so ready for spring!  Our fields start to turn green and then boom we get another 4 days of below freezing and everything stops.  We still have 200+ cows & calves out grazing because under the yellowed grass is new green grass coming through.

I want to stop and add our thoughts and prayers to all the farmers in the Ukraine.  Over the last 20 years there have been many American farmers who have gone into partnership with Ukraine farmers.  The Americans bring in technology and know how to help bring the Ukraine farmers out of soviet style agriculture practices.  There are many articles about younger US farmers who have moved to the Ukraine because their family in the US didn’t have the land to add all their children.

I recently read that the US farmer is still 20X more efficient than their Ukraine counterparts as measured by agriculture products produced per hour of labor.  But now all those combined efforts will be stopped.  Ukraine produces 20% of world corn supply, 30% of world wheat.  Will they be able to harvest and sell their crops?  So very sad to see war again!
