This week I want to highlight Diana on her birthday week.  Many of you text/email or phone her each week but may not know much about her.  So having been married for 30 years, I’ll give you some background.

Diana was born & raised in Jasper, yes a city girl. She got her BS in Nursing from University of Evansville. She worked pediatric ICU at Vanderbilt University but gave up that job which she really loved to move back to Southern Indiana for a boy (yes, me). We lived in Evansville & then Russellville, KY where I worked as an Industrial Engineer. She went back to working at Vanderbilt PICU and completed her MS while starting our family (4.0 GPA, yes I’m proud). We have pictures of Joseph attending classes with Diana while in an infant carrier.  She then had 2 more children, Kyle & Elise who both live in Indy now.  She also was the rock in our family as we moved to Dallas and then Munich, Germany with my job.

In 2002 I left the corporate world and we moved back home,  Diana taught nursing at Vinc. Univ Jasper Center.  As our meat business grew she gave up Nursing Education to raise the kids and become more involved in the meat business.  For the last 12 years, she has worked full-time in the meat business.  In 2013 she took over all the order management and fulfillment duties so I could concentrate more on the farm.  Today she is the Order Fulfillment guru for Fischer Farms, she receives all the orders from 100+ customers each week and enters over 600 line-items.  Then she coordinates the order fulfillment process with her team and keeps everything organized with her 20+ color coded clipboards.  She also creates the processing instructions for Sander Processing & DeWigs each week and is their focal point to get everything cut just as the customer wants it.  I strongly encourage a visit sometime to see how she makes it happen.  Starting each week with little to no prepacked inventory just hanging beef carcasses and hogs that haven’t been butchered yet.  At the end of the week she has coordinated the cutting, shipping & delivery of 30,000+ lbs of meat.  Usually on Thursday evenings she is ready for a glass of wine.

Fun fact about Diana:  She loves to fish.  Many an evening she has drug me to the fishing pond and in a few minutes I’m off walking in the nearby fields and she keeps on fishing.

So hats off to Diana and I hope this gives you a little background on the lady behind those texts/emails and phone calls.
